(Sold Safe Software)

Dale Lutz is a farm boy turned tech entrepreneur whose first taste of business came at age 10, winning a 4-H public speaking competition with “Raising Rabbits for Fun and Profit.” He went on to earn a Master’s in Computing Science from the University of Alberta and co-found Safe Software, a global spatial data integration company that began as two guys in spare bedrooms building software to exchange maps between the BC government and forest companies. Over three decades, Safe grew to more than 250 employees serving customers worldwide. After 30 years and 9 days, Dale sold his interest in December 2023. He now focuses on family, mentoring young leaders, closely following AI developments and their business implications, and speaking candidly about the realities of business transitions.
