David Simpson is a Lecturer in the Entrepreneurship group and the founding director of the Business Families Centre at the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University. As Director, Mr. Simpson leads outreach programs for entrepreneurial families and advisors, organizes an annual celebration of family owned firms and develops case studies and learning materials for use at Ivey. For over 20 yrs, Mr. Simpson has been an active entrepreneur (owner operator) in diverse fields including golf and tennis clubs, oil field services, aircraft parts distribution, automobile radiator and a/c distribution, restaurants and retail sporting goods. He holds an MBA from the Ivey School of Business (1988) and a BA in Political Science from Western. Prior to Ivey he was a professional hockey player in the New York Islander organization and was Canada’s Junior Player of the year in 1982 and Captain of Team Canada in 1985.He is an author and regular public speaker on the subjects of family business, entrepreneurship and sports.
