Being part of a family business that spans four generations, Kathy offers a wealth of personal insights on the importance of transitional roles for each generation.  Her first-hand experience with evolving responsibilities within a multi-generational family business are practical, realistic and valuable.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Kathy now lives, plays and works with her husband Scott and their four children in Calgary. Upon graduation from the University of Calgary, she served as Marketing Manager in Melcor’s Calgary division. There she oversaw every aspect of branding, advertising and marketing new communities in Calgary and surrounding area.

In 2004, she joined Cavell Holdings, a second-generation family business with her siblings and father. Here, she started their residential land development division in Kelowna, where she handles everything from land procurement and planning right through to the sales of single family homesites.

Kathy has recently become a corporate director for MelcorDevelopments Ltd, a publicly traded real estate development company started by her great grandfather in 1923.

Grateful to be part of a family that not only shares a business, but also the love of family time, travel and philanthropy, Kathy is committed to passing on the core values that have been part of her family for generations.
