Tom Kramer

President & CEO, Smith Cameron Group

Tom acquired Smith Cameron Process Solutions in 2011 along with equity partner Krystal Growth Partners.  Tom subsequently completed 6 strategic acquisitions over 8 years, proving an ability to grow through acquisition and organically, with a revenue CAGR of 13.3% (5%+ organically), while increasing EBITDA margin from 6.9% to 14.3%.  Together, these companies form The Smith Cameron Group (SCG; www.go-SCG.com); providing solutions-oriented flow control, treatment and instrumentation process equipment supply, engineered packaging, parts, repair and related technical services serving all Industrial and Water / Wastewater markets across Canada.

While SCG flourished through 2020, Tom determined the timing this was right to seek a strategic partner that could deliver significant shareholder value AND provide SCG a healthy platform to continue it’s mission of strategic growth.  Closing on July 2nd, 2021, this process culminated in a transaction that delivered a > double digit multiple on EBITDA, more than doubled the size of SCG’s business with a truly national footprint across Canada post-close, and hitched SCG to a $1b rev strategic partner with a substantial foundation … positioning SCG to aggressively grow from.

Prior to 2011, Tom served as President / CEO of Canadian Utility Construction headquartered in Surrey, BC.  Having returned to Canada in 2006 with a 20 year career in the power, construction and heavy equipment with Northern Pipeline Construction (wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest Gas NYSE: SWX) reporting to the CEO, and with Empire Southwest, a Caterpillar Dealer, managing the Rental Division and Engine Business.

Tom is an active member of the BC Chapter of Young Presidents Org (YPO), and is also a co-owner with his brother and father of a 75 bed, 67 acre Residential Addictions Recovery Center on Vancouver Island.
