Since founding Honk in 2013, Michael has been applying knowledge, success and wealth of experience to create a much-needed solution for both time-starved, convenience-driven consumers and cash-strapped, data-deprived parking operators. Under his direction, Michael has built Honk into a national provider of on-demand mobile phone, tablet or nay internet connected device. Honk lists more than 150,000 parking spaces across North America on behalf of municipalities, colleges and universities, private real estate owners and commercial parking operators.
Previous, Michael founded Collective Point of Sale Solutions (CPOS). CPOS evolved to be one of Canada’s largest merchant acquirers and a leading provider of debit and credit card processing services. In 2013, Michael sold his company to Elavon, a leading global payments provider and wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB).
Michael Backs holds a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business (1995), and Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from Western University (1993).
