Erin Parkes grew up in the family business as the eldest grandchild of generation 3. She followed in her grandmother and aunts footsteps learning the business from the inside out. They were her day to day mentors teaching her the basics in bookkeeping and running the family office planning all family events including a yearly family get away that now is at 72 attendees. Being fully involved in the business her whole life, she credits the family business for being flexible while she had her 3 sons and sometimes brought them with her to work when needed while they were very young. Today her role is CFO and she works alongside her father, brothers, uncles, aunt and cousins who manage different parts of the company’s day to day operations. Her grandparents started Valley Pulp & Sawdust Carriers Ltd. in 1963 after they purchased their first sawdust truck.
