Mike Steele is a seasoned business leader with expertise in strategy, finance and marketing-communications. Steele has developed global teams (Americas, Europe, Asia and Caribbean) acting as a senior executive, financial advisor and entrepreneur. He has been actively developing and executing strategy; growing and financing businesses for more than 20 years and participated in transactions ranging from under $2 million to more than $750 million. Steele is the Chief Financial Officer of a disruptive technology firm AdvEn Inc. AdvEn converts refinery residues and heavy bitumen into super activated carbon-based products for the energy storage and environmental industries. It is constructing a 36,000 ft2 manufacturing and product development facility in Nisku, AB.

For the past five years, Steele has acted as President of Granite Creek Capital Corp., a boutique advisory firm specializing in financial transactions and mergers and acquisitions. He is also one of the original team members of the CFO Centre in Alberta. Previously, he acted for Natural Health Services Ltd. as CFO negotiating and structuring the company’s $22.5 million acquisition by Sunniva Inc., a cannabis cultivation company with business interests in Canada and the U.S. He subsequently acted as Sunniva’s CFO for a year building its foundation finance, accounting, legal, IT and investor relations infrastructure. He also ensured a successful initial public offering and the Company’s listing on the Canadian Stock Exchange with a resulting market capitalization of approximately $400 million.

He previously led the $13.7 million leveraged buy-out of EnviroVault Corporation and acted as its CFO for two years. Prior to that, he acted as VP Strategic Development and Co-founder of Asian Coast Development (Canada) Ltd.; VP Communications and Strategy for World Gaming PLC, Managing Director of Inphinity Interactive; and Vice President and Co-Founder of the boutique marketing and communications firm The Matridigm Corporation.

Steele is currently a provincial council member and the treasurer for the Alberta Society of Artists. He previously held the role of Director and Membership Committee Chair for the Rotary Club of Vancouver and Director of the SAIT Alumni Association.
