Sean Murray is President and CEO of Advocate Printing & Publishing and several other related companies. Advocate is a diversified print and digital communications company in Atlantic Canada operating commercial printing, signage, magazine, newspaper, distribution, real estate, and investment companies. Sean believes in growing business sustainably for community success and the obligation to leave a legacy for future generations. With this philosophy in mind, Sean has been celebrated for his leadership in industry and community. For five consecutive years he was recognized as one of the Top 50 CEOs in Atlantic Canada and in 2011 inducted into the Atlantic CEO’s Hall of Fame. He was also celebrated as one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40. Received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal. He is an Honorary life member of the News Media Canada and retired as a Director of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Canada, and of Nova Scotia Business Inc. after a decade serving on each.


He is a director of the NS Heart and Stroke Foundation, Treasurer of the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Capital Campaign member, a director of YPO Atlantic Canada Integrated and more locally a Director of the Aberdeen Health Foundation, Pictou County Recruitment and Retention Taskforce and Citizens for a Healthy Pictou County. He has served on multiple capital campaigns in the region and has acted as chair of many local, regional, and national organizations.


Sean is a proud graduate of Pictou Academy and St. Mary’s University, is a Graduate of Harvard Business School’s Presidents Program in Leadership (2018), is a Quantum shift fellow, received an ICD.D designation in 2015. In 2017 Sean Was named Canada’s Print leader of the year.
