Darren Benson is the Managing Director & Co-Head of the National Client Group’s M&A advisory team. Darren has over 25 years of M&A advisory and corporate finance experience, including a broad range of domestic, cross-border and international transactions including buy-side, divestitures, hostile defense, restructuring, fairness opinion and advisory assignments across various industries.

Prior to joining National Bank’s M&A practice in 2017, Darren spent 14 years in Global Investment Banking at Scotiabank in both Toronto and Hong Kong.  The last 7 years of which, he was Managing Director and Head of Scotia’s investment banking and M&A business in Asia Pacific.  He also previously worked in investment banking at UBS and Barclays.

Darren is a graduate of the Wilfrid Laurier University and is a CFA charter holder.
