Robert Hagerman is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Calgary office, practising in the areas of estates, trusts and tax law with a particular emphasis on income tax, and corporate and estate planning for privately owned businesses.

Bob represents clients in a number of industries, including development, holding, wealth management, drilling, engineering and food distribution companies. He has advised Canadian, U.S. and international companies on a range of issues, including:

  • International corporate tax issues
  • Tax planning for families and emerging businesses
  • Tax implications of mergers and acquisitions
  • Structuring of inbound and outbound cross-border transactions

Prior to practising law, Bob was a chartered accountant (CA) and worked as a tax manager for a national CA firm for three years.

Bob was a director with the Calgary chapter of the Canadian Association of Family Enterprises from 1991 to 2007, and he is presently a director of a number of private businesses and charitable foundations.
