Harold Kunik

President, Mosaic Capital Corporation

Harold Kunik is the President, Director and co-founder of Calgary-based Mosaic Capital Corporation, a publicly traded private equity investment business. Harold has over 20 years of experience as a private equity investor and venture capital fund manager in addition to several senior leadership roles in corporate turnarounds and restructurings.

Harold began his career with KPMG Peat Marwick in Edmonton in 1983, working primarily in the SME (small and medium enterprise) accounting and corporate restructuring groups. He moved to KPMG’s Christchurch, New Zealand office in 1987 and spent the next five years with the firm in a variety of capacities, including senior management consultant in the corporate business planning and forensic areas.

Harold returned to Canada in 1994 and subsequently joined Western New Ventures Capital Corporation, a private equity firm based in Edmonton Alberta. He became a partner and played a key role in Chief Financial Officer and Director positions for several of the investee businesses, including businesses in the hardware, software, manufacturing and service industries. In 2001, Harold joined Avenir Capital Corporation, a private equity business as Managing Director and co-managing the Avenir Growth Fund.

Harold co-founded Mosaic in 2005 and over the past 11 years has played a key role in acquiring 13 mid-market Canadian businesses in five Canadian provinces. Mosaic’s model of assisting founders and management in preserving the legacy that they have built over the years, while assisting them in taking their business to the next level, has found great favor with entrepreneurs across the country and Harold leads a team of dedicated investment and operational professionals in continuing that momentum.
